Care at Mount Helix Senior Living

At Mount Helix Senior Living, we provide personalized residential care for older adults in a licensed, home-like setting in La Mesa. As a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) operating under California Title 22, we combine the comfort of a residential home with the structure, safety, and oversight families and care partners expect. Our team supports each resident's dignity, independence, and well-being through every stage of aging.

We welcome residents through private pay as well as several Medi-Cal–funded programs, and we work closely with case managers, PACE organizations, and discharge planners to make transitions smooth.

Assisted Living & Daily Care

For many older adults, staying safe and comfortable simply means having the right help at the right moments. Our caregivers provide compassionate, around-the-clock assistance with the activities of daily living, tailored to each resident's individual care plan.

Our daily care includes:

  • Assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene

  • Mobility support, safe transfers, and fall-risk monitoring

  • Toileting and incontinence care handled with discretion and respect

  • Medication assistance and coordination with physicians and pharmacies

  • Three home-cooked meals daily plus snacks, with accommodations for special diets

  • Housekeeping, laundry, and linen service

  • Ongoing monitoring for changes in health or condition, with prompt communication to families and providers

Every resident receives an individualized care plan that we review regularly and adjust as needs change — so care always fits the person, not the other way around.

Memory & Dementia Care

Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's or another form of dementia takes patience, training, and a calm, secure environment. Our caregivers are trained in dementia care and person-centered approaches that meet residents where they are.

Our memory care support includes:

  • A safe, secure setting designed to reduce wandering and elopement risk

  • Structured daily routines that bring comfort and predictability

  • Redirection and de-escalation techniques that honor each resident's dignity

  • Support with the confusion, agitation, and changes that can come with cognitive decline

  • Meaningful activities suited to each resident's abilities and history

  • Close coordination with families and physicians as care needs evolve

We understand how much families carry. Our goal is to give you peace of mind knowing your loved one is known, valued, and safe.

Hospice & End-of-Life Care

When a resident enters the final chapter of life, our commitment doesn't waver — it deepens. Mount Helix Senior Living partners with licensed hospice agencies to allow residents to remain in the comfort of their familiar home rather than move to an unfamiliar setting.

In coordination with hospice teams, we provide:

  • A peaceful, familiar environment surrounded by caregivers who know them

  • Comfort-focused daily care and assistance

  • Compassionate support for residents and their families through the process

  • Seamless collaboration with hospice nurses, physicians, and chaplains

We believe every person deserves comfort, dignity, and companionship at the end of life — and we're honored to walk alongside families during this time.

Medi-Cal Programs & Payment Options

We know that navigating how to pay for care is one of the hardest parts of the journey. Mount Helix Senior Living participates in several programs that make quality residential care accessible to more families:

  • PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) — We contract with PACE organizations, including St. Paul PACE, to serve eligible participants.

  • Assisted Living Waiver (ALW) — For Medi-Cal–eligible seniors who qualify for care that helps them avoid nursing-home placement.

  • CalAIM — Supporting coordinated, whole-person care for eligible Medi-Cal members.

  • Private Pay — Straightforward monthly rates with clear, transparent pricing.

Not sure what your loved one qualifies for? We're happy to help you understand the options and connect with the right resources. Call us at 619-882-5003 or reach out through our contact page.
